What is a Digital Job Card?

Η digital work card is a a statutory measure of the State for the correct recording of working hours employees, overtime & holidays. The aim is for the new information system Organise automatic and real-time receipt of employees' working hours. The digital card was implemented from 1 July 2022 in banks & supermarkets. Insurance companies & security companies then adopted the measure.

The Digital Job Card is mandatory from 1 April 2024 for retail & industry. The measure will be followed by tourism and catering.

Deviations & fines;

Businesses are obliged to comply with the Digital Job Card measure and to record the actual working hours, holidays & overtime of employees their. But what happens if there are any discrepancies? In case of discrepancies between the actual working time and the digital working time entered for each deviation a fine of 3.000€ is imposed on the company. In the event that the undertaking obstruct the verification of the actual working time, the fine amounts to 4.000€.

If the digital work card is not implemented* by the company, the fine amounts to 10.500€

*after 2 months from the mandatory application date applicable to each sector.
